My standard rate is $55/hour for design, and $45/hour for production. I either charge hourly, or I can offer a quote based on hours x hourly rate. My rates are based on the Graphic Artist's Guild's standards for working professional artists, and consistent with industry standards. What are your illustration rates?
Illustrations are always quoted as a flat rate, and the cost depends entirely on the complexity of the project. If you're looking for illustration services, please feel free to contact me with the details so that I can formulate an accurate quote.
Do you offer a non-profit rate?I do a considerable amount of work for non-profits, however I do not offer any special rate. Since I am a sole proprietor, I simply cannot afford to offer special rates to anyone who asks. The only pro-bono or reduced cost work I do is work that I approach first, and is usually a cause I believe in strongly.
How does the process work? After the contract is established and signed, a typical project for a logo or brochure follows: We discuss your needs, demographics and any additional details. I provide 3 initial drafts for your consideration. The first round of drafts are based on our previous discussion on what your needs are. One draft is chosen to establish the direction of the project. From that one chosen draft, there will be 3 rounds of revisions. Additional revisions are charged based on my hourly rate. If applicable, printing and delivery is set up.
How do you handle printing?I can arrange for the printing and delivery of any items, but many times clients have their own usual professional printer. I am comfortable with however my client would like it carried out. Any printing fees are applied on top of my design fees for projects in which I handle the printing.
You specialize in events? What does that mean?Yes, I was fortunate enough to work on a significant amount of event projects while employed several years for a Chamber of Commerce who organized and promoted many community and business events. While events may not necessarily always have a big difference in their needs than standard company branding initiatives, items such as t-shirt and event merchandise can add an additional complexity.
Do you create websites?Yes. I am capable of creating multi-page brochure sites. I however do not offer e-commerce or social networking site development.
Do you write copy?Yes. As a former Assistant Editor for a small newspaper and copywriter in previous employment, I have the experience to assist with copy. Writing copy is billed the same as my design fees.
I am an Art Director for a large company and need someone to handle production, are you available?Yes. I am quite comfortable working with medium or larger companies as a production artist. Please contact me to discuss compensation and additional details.
